Planet Fitness has amassed a huge membership base of 15 million people across the United States. For this reason, Planet Fitness is a great option for those who have never been to a gym and would rather not work out in the same place with all the muscle-bound hulks. With minimum paperwork, you can easily join Planet Fitness.
If you are interested in using the facilities at Planet Fitness, you may be curious whether you can use another person’s membership. Or if you have to provide identification at Planet Fitness to prove that you are a legitimate member.
You should think about these things before heading to Planet Fitness for a workout. People often wonder if they need a guest pass to use Planet Fitness on their own, given that certain members are allowed to bring guests.
We have prepared this article to discuss whether or not Planet Fitness asks for ID cards.
Does Planet Fitness Ask For ID?
Yes, Planet Fitness will request customers’ identification. When you invite a friend to Planet Fitness and bring them there with you, the guest is required to have a photo identification card with them to register for a membership.
The club will then provide each guest with a unique number for their temporary key tag.
A driver’s license card is always going to be the best form of identification to have.
Does Planet Fitness Check ID?
Employees at Planet Fitness won’t go above and beyond their way to verify your identity if you present a membership card. However, a photo of you will appear with your ID when you check-in. This will be a dead giveaway that you are not a legitimate gym member and should not be allowed in.
Memberships at Planet Fitness are personal and may not be shared with anybody, even with the owner’s consent. As a member, you are not allowed to transfer your membership to another person or add anyone else to your membership. Each individual membership is created specifically for one user.
If a Black Card holder so chooses, they may bring one visitor with them, but only under certain conditions. A Planet Fitness guest is restricted to the gym section and may not use any other amenities or visit the gym unaccompanied.
If they wish to work out, they need to bring the member who holds the membership card with them. They can’t just use the ID to pass themselves off as a member and enter the building. Planet Fitness’s check-in system prevents people who don’t have memberships from using the facility.
This is also why Planet Fitness membership cards feature a photo that automatically displays. The staff at Planet Fitness can more easily identify a non-member when they see them coming in. You’ll have to leave if this happens, as you won’t be allowed to use the gym.

Does Planet Fitness Ask For Proof Of Age?
You must be 18 or have permission from a legal guardian or parent to work out at Planet Fitness. Once you check in at Planet Fitness, they will have access to your age, but they won’t actively ask for it.
Individuals under the age of 18 can’t become members of Planet Fitness. A photo ID is required to verify your age. A minor can come in the company of their parents or guardian.
Planet Fitness has a rigorous dress code and requires members to provide identification. Please refer to the website or speak with a Planet Fitness staff member for further information on acceptable gym attire.
If you have a valid membership, you can check in without showing proof of age. When you become a member of Planet Fitness, the staff will be aware of your membership and will be welcoming.
If you are under 18, you must have parental or legal guardian permission to join. There will be no need for anyone to verify your age after that. Planet Fitness does not accept or provide services to anyone less than 13 years of age. If a guardian isn’t present, this regulation still stands.

Does Planet Fitness Ask For ID For Summer Pass?
Planet Fitness provides a unique incentive for youngsters to maintain a healthy lifestyle by providing free summer memberships. In July 2019, the fitness chain announced a new program called the High School Summer Pass.
This program will allow high school students free access to the chain’s clubs between May 16 and August 31. Since 2019, when it was called the Teen Summer Challenge, the program has been helping teenagers keep active during the summer months when school sports, gym classes, and after-activities wind down.
Planet Fitness is holding scholarship sweepstakes to attract as many young people as possible. A total of $5,000 will be awarded to one lucky kid at the end of the summer, with each state winner receiving $500.
An ID card is not required for enrollment in Planet Fitness’s summer program, and so, according to the organization, people between the ages of 14 and 19 can sign up for a free membership and workout. Minors need approval from a parent or legal guardian before enrolling.
Once the program begins, all that teenagers have to do to sign up is either visit the gym’s website or go to their local gym. Teenagers can only utilize the Planet Fitness facility they joined during the enrollment process; they cannot use their summer pass at any other Planet Fitness site.
