Everyone looks forward to receiving their Amazon packages. If you ask me, I sit by the window all day waiting for that one package to finally arrive. But it can also be pretty annoying if the package which was supposed to arrive that day never arrived. This can be even more irritating if you needed that item for an emergency. So what should you do in this situation?
And what if Amazon shows you that your package has been delivered but it never arrived? What should you do in this case? Each delivery service has slightly different rules and standard operating procedures when it comes to finding and tracking lost packages. Amazon is actually one of the easier and better carriers to deal with in case of problems with your order, so it should be a sign of relief.
What To Do If Amazon Package Never Arrived?
The first thing which you should do if you Amazon package hasn’t arrived is log in to your Amazon account and check the status of your order. If it is marked as ‘delivered,’ Amazon advises customer to wait 48 hours to contact them if the package hasn’t arrived. If the item is marked as ‘In Transit,’ just check the tracking number for possible delays.
Sometimes there can be delays in delivering your order and Amazon will let you know about those delays. If this is the case then it’s a huge sigh of relief as you know that Amazon is also aware of the problem.
But what if your order status shows that it has been delivered or if it still shows on the way? If it is still in transit, there shouldn’t be any reason to worry. Just check back the following day. You can also contact Amazon directly to let them know the package is delayed (in case they aren’t honoring their two-day shipping guarantee.)
On the other hand if the order status shows delivered then there are a few other steps which you need to follow.
Another thing which you should do is look for an attempted delivery notification on your account.
There is a possibility that the items were out for delivery but the delivery driver couldn’t reach you or the building was closed. Maybe you were out that day or due to some extreme weather conditions it wasn’t possible for the delivery truck to reach you.
If this is the case then simply contact the amazon customer service and they will update the account information to specify the hours of delivery.
If Your Amazon Order Shows Delivered But Not Received
This is probably the worst nightmare for anyone. What does anyone do in this situation? There are multiple things which you need to do. The first thing is to check the delivery address for your order.
A lot of times, there are multiple delivery addresses saved on your account and one of the other addresses can be set to default. This happens to me a lot of time when I am on a shopping spree and I don’t pay attention to what the delivery address is.
If this is the case then you have a problem, if the other delivery address is nearby to your house then you can simply travel and pick up the order anytime you want. But if the delivery address was of another city or in another state then sadly you will either have to request amazon to ship the product again to the right location or order the thing again yourself.
The chances of amazon re-shipping the item are pretty slim. I mean it wasn’t their fault that you didn’t notice the delivery address while placing the order.
If your delivery address was correct then it might be a good idea to check with your neighbours once. There is a big possibility that the delivery executive got confused between the addresses and accidentally left your package with your neighbours. This happens a lot if you live in apartments or in societies which have confusing house numbers.
If you have a letterbox system in your house, then make sure to check it once. There is a possibility that the delivery guy just put the items in the letter box.
How To Contact Amazon In Case The Item Hasn’t Been Delivered After 48 Hours
Often, the delivery status of your orders gets updated ahead of time. Ideally you should give it about 48 hours after the status has been updated. Once this time period is over and you have checked the delivery address and asked your neighbors, you should immediately contact Amazon customer service regarding your query.
There are two ways you can contact Amazon customer service. Either go to your amazon account and then go to your order history, once you are there click on ‘help’ and then on ‘problems with my order’.
After this you will see an option for either ‘contact us’ or ‘talk to an Amazon executive’. You will either be directed to a bot or real person and Amazon will further investigate the issue and give you a refund if they find an issue from their side.
The other method to contact amazon is simply by logging in to your amazon account and go to help > browse help topic > need more help > contact us.

There are some advantages if you are an amazon prime subscriber which will surely ease the pain of not receiving your package. Although all of the steps which I have mentioned above will apply, you can opt in for a claim if the package was delivered outside of the promised timeframe or even if the package didn’t arrive at all.
Amazon will usually at least give you one month free amazon prime subscription which will simply be added at the end of your current subscription.
What Is Amazon’s A-Z Guarantee Protection?
Amazon along with a lot of its ‘amazon fulfilled’ products also sells third party products. If you buy any of these products, they don’t give you a lot of information regarding the tracking IDs and status of your delivery. There can also be cases when you received something entirely different than what you had ordered. On the bright side, Amazon does offer some kind of protection from such sellers by the name of A to Z Guarantee Protection.
According to this program, you first have to contact the third party seller through your Amazon ID and wait for some time for a response. The usual waiting time is about 48 hours. If even after this the seller has not responded or if the response was not satisfactory, you can file for a claim with amazon.
For our current discussions, you have to meet either of the following criteria’s to get a successful claim:
- That you did not receive the item within 30 days or 3 days past the estimated delivery time.
- Or if the product was different or damage from what you had ordered.
Not receiving your Amazon packages on time is one of the most irritating first world problems you can have. But it can simply make or break your day.
