How Do I Add an Amazon Gift Card to my Amazon Account?
If you want to add a gift card to your Amazon account, you can take the following simple steps:
- Select the ‘Gift Card’ option at the top of the Amazon screen and select ‘Apply To Your Account’
- Enter the claim code located on your Amazon gift card, and proceed to checkout as usual.
If you are planning on spending a large amount on a purchase and want to spread it out, you can buy multiple gift cards in order to split it more evenly among your gift cards and credit card.
How Do I Split a Payment on Amazon With a Gift Card?
If you want to split a purchase with different Amazon gift cards, you can take the following steps:
- Purchase Amazon.com gift cards in retails stores or at Amazon’s card kiosk. Make sure to purchase as many gift cards as you need to cover the cost of the products you want to purchase.
- Add items to your cart, making sure you have enough money on your gift cards for this purchase.
- From here, you can add the gift card codes to your account. Select ‘Gift Cards’ on the top of the screen. After entering the code, click on ‘Apply To Your Account.’
- Once the gift cards are applied to your account, you may proceed to checkout. On the ‘Payment Method’ screen, select the gift cards you want to apply for your purchase.
- Once you have added the gift cards, you can add a credit/debt card for your second form of payment.
- Review your order and check out.
This will allow you to use the gift cards and your credit/debit card to ‘split’ the payment for your Amazon purchases.
Can I Use a Visa/MasterCard Gift Card to Split a Payment on Amazon?
Amazon allows customers to make split payments with their own Amazon gift cards but it cannot be done with pre-paid Visa’s or MasterCards to split payments.
Visa and MasterCard gift cards operate the same way as a regular credit card, thus Amazon accepts it like any other credit/debt card and doesn’t allow split payments.
Pre-Paid credit cards do not come with codes, like Amazon gift cards, and are entered just like aa credit card during checkout.
You can, however, use your Visa/MasterCard gift card to purchase an Amazon gift card. With the Amazon gift card, you can then split the payments with another card.
