PayPal has been around for a long time, but Sam’s Club has been around even longer.
And being such a convenient payment method, I was wondering if Sam’s Club accepted PayPal. We looked into it and this is what we found…
Does Sam’s Club Accept PayPal?
Sam’s Club does not yet accept PayPal as one of their payment options either online or in store. Instead, they offer a range of other convenient payment methods. However, accepted Sam’s Club instore payments are not the same as those accepted for SamsClub.com, the online shopping option.
This article takes a look at the Sam’s Club accepted payment methods: what you can use, what you can’t use, and how to choose the payment options you prefer.
What Payment Methods Are Accepted At Sam’s Club?
Sam’s Club offer their members two ways to shop: instore at any of the Sam’s Club locations, or online. The company claim that both options are equal in terms of convenience, security, and value for money.
If you shop instore, you can pay by:
- Visa
- MasterCard
- Discover
- American Express
- Sam’s Club Credit
- Walmart and Sam’s Club gift cards
- Cash or check
- Debit card
- SNAP/EBT
- Walmart credit
- Prepaid credit cards
What Payment Methods Can I Use On SamsClub.com?
If you’re a member of Sam’s Club and you prefer to shop online, you’ll enjoy looking through the SamsClub.com site. Payment is no problem: there are a range of easy options here too:
- Visa
- Mastercard
- Discover
- American Express
- Sam’s Club Credit
- Walmart and Sam’s Club gift cards
- Digital Wallet Service
- Debit card
- Prepaid credit cards
Remember that if you shop online and choose pickup instead of delivery, your purchase is still counted as an online purchase. This means you cannot use SNAP payments even if you pick up your order instore.
Which Credit Cards Does Sam’s Club Accept?
Sam’s Club accept a range of credit cards including their own Sam’s Club Credit card and Sam’s Club Mastercard. The benefits received from the Sam’s Club cards depend on the type of membership you have.
Sam’s Club accept the following credit cards:
- Visa
- Mastercard
- American Express
- Discover
- Prepaid credit cards
Sam’s Club also accept gift cards (from Sam’s Club and Walmart) and debit cards.
In regard to Sam’s Club credit card and Mastercard offers – neither of these come with an annual fee, but both arrive with a welcome offer of $30 credit, which needs to be used within 30 days at Sam’s Club.
Both allow cash advances of up to $100, and both can be used online. While the credit card can be used at any Sam’s Club stores, the Mastercard can be used anywhere that Mastercard is accepted.
And while the credit card shows your membership and allows you to make purchases, it doesn’t reward you in any other way.
The Sam’s Club Mastercard, however, allows you to earn Sam’s Cash (on Sam’s Club purchases), plus 5% cash back on gas (on first $6,000 per year, then 1% after), 3% cash back on dining and 1% cash back on other purchases (3% if you’re a Plus member).
Remember your rewards can only be used with Sam’s Club, and will expire if not used in a certain amount of time.

Can I Pay At Sam’s Club Using Multiple Payment Options?
You are fine to split payments if you are making the payment(s) instore. There, you’ll find that Sam’s Cub cashiers are fine to split payments, accepting, for example, a combination of cash, credit card, cash rewards, cash back and/or up to 4 gift cards. The gift cards must be Sam’s Club and/or Walmart gift cards.
If you’re paying online at SamsClub.com, you can’t use multiple credit cards. However, you can multiple payment methods. This means you can use one credit card and one gift card and the redemption of one cash reward, for example.
Can You Use PayPal At Walmart?
Walmart has an excellent Payment Methods webpage, which details every kind of payment they accept plus instructions on how to add or edit payment methods to your account.
On this page, Walmart state that they do accept PayPal for online payments along with a range of other payment options:
- EBT
- Debit cards
- Credit cards
- Gift cards, including Sam’s Club gift cards (but not for the purchase of another gift card)
- Capital One Walmart credit cards
When you check out, you’ll also see PayPal and Affirm listed. These options are not part of your digital wallet. In other, words, they are part of the site structure, and you don’t add or edit them from your digital wallet.
