Are Lean Pockets Discontinued? (FIND OUT!)

Feb 17, 2022 ·

Lean pockets offers convenient, delicious, and affordable frozen sandwich snacks for most enthusiasts. Lean Pockets’ consumers believe they are tasty enough to indulge infrequently and an excellent protein source.

They come in different original flavors, such as Sausage Egg and Cheese, Meatball Mozzarella, Philly Steak and Cheese Mesquite, BBQ Chicken and Chicken Jalapeño, and Cheese on Pretzel Bread.

One good thing about all lean pockets is that they can be microwaved and eaten on the move.

Lean pockets belong in the freezer area of the grocery shops and come in various options such as breakfast pocket sandwiches to quesadilla-style sandwiches. Continue reading to discover more on Lean Pockets.

Are Lean Pockets Discontinued?

Nestle confirmed they had officially discontinued lean pockets in a tweet. Although nutritionists highly discouraged lean pockets, most people found them quick, tasty, and worth every bite. The parent company had quietly ended their line of lean pockets, most probably due to low sales.

Hot pocket demand has surged, particularly during the epidemic, making it appear that their Lean cousin did not bring in enough revenue to support their continuation.

However, these two frozen flaky-dough sandwiches brands are not that different.

It would be correct to say that Lean pockets are just the low-calorie version of hot pockets.

Lean Pockets

Are Lean Pockets Healthy?

Lean pockets are healthy, low-calorie, low-fat snacks, and so, if you’re on a low-calorie diet, they can take the place of lunch or dinner, especially when served with fruits or a salad.

They are also rich in dietary protein, which is necessary for human health. Each serving of lean pockets contains 10 to 12 grams of protein.

These frozen sandwiches provided a healthier option to the iconic Hot Pockets because of their low calorie.

Hot Pockets vs. Lean Pockets

Both Hot Pockets and Lean Pockets are products of the Nestle Company. The company used similar images for both brands but swapped them out by simply making the boxes appear different.

Nestle made Lean Pocked available in original flavors, including Philly Steak and Cheese and Chicken Jalapeno and Cheese, 9 grams of fat, and 360 calories per serving. Lean pockets have lower calorie content than hot pockets.

Also, the fat content of lean pockets is lower than that of their ‘regular’ counterparts. The ordinary cheeseburger contains 310 calories, whereas the lean cheeseburger has 280 calories. So there isn’t much of a difference, but it is less. Consuming fewer calories does not always imply being healthier.

How long do you cook Lean Pockets?

The time you might take cooking Lean Pockets may differ for various reasons. These factors may include the level of microwave wattage and the number of sandwiches you would like to cook.

For example, the cooking time using a compact microwave for one sandwich may take three minutes, while cooking the same sandwich in an 1100 Watt Oven may take only two minutes.

Consider cooking one sandwich at a time for better results.

Are Lean Pockets Good For breakfast?

Lean Pockets provide a calorie-controlled and straightforward alternative for breakfast, lunch, or dinner when dieting. All Lean Pockets types have less than 360 calories and 9 grams of fat, making them ideal for a low-fat, low-calorie diet.

If you’re on a low-sodium or very low-fat diet, however, Lean Pockets might not be the best option since they’re low in fiber and nutrients, which means they won’t keep you full or content all day.

Conclusion

Although Lean Pockets aren’t a rich source of nutrients, they can substitute for high-calorie takeout or fast meals.

If you’re on the road and frequently skip meals, a Lean Pocket can be a convenient way to stay on track and avoid splurges later. To spice up your menu, experiment with distinct flavors.

Avoid nibbling on Lean Pockets when feasible and combine them with fresh fruit or vegetables to make a well-rounded diet.
