Buying makeup can be a shot in the dark sometimes. You don’t always know if the stuff you buy will be the right color, or if it will hold up to a night out on the town. Being able to return unwanted makeup without hassle is a great advantage when purchasing without certainty.
Since different stores can have drastically different policies, it pays to do some research and figure out whether or not you may be eligible for a full refund.
You can return makeup to Marshall’s within 30 days of your purchase as long as you have the original receipt. Returns between 30 and 40 days will only be eligible for store credit.

Marshall’s Return Policy After 90 Days
There are two parts to Marshall’s returns policy; one for items purchased in store and one for items purchased online. Both policies are fairly straightforward, and the difference lies mainly in the methods allowed for returning items.
For both policies, the limit on how long you can wait to get a refund is 30 days. If your purchase was between 30-40 days ago, you may still be eligible for store credit or item exchange.
Beyond these limits, all refunds are at the discretion of the store manager. There is a chance that they may still process your refund for store credit, but it is unlikely you will be eligible for a cash refund.
However, the policy also states that if your local Marshall’s location is closed due to covid-19 restrictions, special conditions apply. Basically, you will still be eligible for a refund up to 30 days after the store re-opens. This is the only situation in which you will be eligible for a refund after the standard 30-day period has elapsed.
Marshall’s Return Policy Without Receipt
Although Marshall’s requires a receipt within 30 days to process a full refund, you can still get store credit if you do not have a receipt. Simply return the item in its original packaging and they will refund you with store credit that can be used to purchase other Marshall’s merchandise.
If you wish to request a return without a receipt, you will need a government issued photo ID in order to receive the store credit. You may also be required to provide a signature. Returns of this nature will also be registered and tracked by Marshall’s loss prevention program.
Can You Return Makeup To Marshall’s Without Packaging?
Items returned to Marshall’s must be unused and unopened in the original packaging. Used or open merchandise cannot be accepted for returns.
If you have opened your item, or if the packaging has been sufficiently damaged, you will not be able to return your item for a refund. If you intend to return an item, it is of the utmost importance that you do not open it or attempt to use it.
Likewise, if your item arrives at the warehouse in a damaged condition, then your refund will likely be denied. For this reason, it is important to use a sturdy and well-packed container when mailing in your items for a refund.
How To Return Makeup To Marshall’s
You can return makeup to Marshall’s by taking in your unopened merchandise with your receipt to any Marshall’s location within 30 days of purchase.
Returns outside the 30 day window, or without the receipt, will be ineligible for full cash refund. You will only be able to receive store credit. Items purchased in store must be returned in store, but items purchased online can be sent in by mail.
Returns in store are completely free, but a re-stocking and shipping fee will be deducted from your refund if you return an item by mail. We’ll talk more about mailing in your items in the next section of this article.
Refunds will be sent to the same payment method that was used for the purchase. If you originally purchased your makeup with a credit card that is no longer available, you will have to contact customer service to discuss your options.
It’s also important to note that items purchased at Marshall’s (whether online or in store) must be returned to Marshall’s. You cannot return these items to TJ Maxx or other stores associated with the Marshall’s brand.
Returning Makeup To Marshall’s By Mail
The “Returns” column on your item receipt will indicate how you are allowed to return your item. Items purchased online may be mailed in for a refund within 40 days. The item must arrive at the returns warehouse within 40 days of your original order for you to be eligible for a refund.
The receipt from your order will include a shipping label you can use for your return. A return handling fee will be deducted from your refund when processing a return by mail. It is important to include your receipt (or a copy of your order confirmation email) in the box when you ship your items for return.
Other than that, all standard return policies apply to returns by mail. In other words, your item must be unopened and in perfect condition when it arrives at the warehouse.
