Lately, there has been a surge in demand and popularity of self-pickup services. Many retailer giants like Costco, Kohl’s, The Home Depot, and Walmart have hopped into the growing trend. It makes sense as people favor convenience to free up time for things.
Target has pickup methods as well, and the one concern online shoppers have is how long the store will keep order. For those who are busy with work and many commitments, they might not be able to immediately collect their order.
How much time does Target give to collect? Can the pickup time be extended? We cover these questions and more, so keep reading!
Does Target Put Things On Hold?
Target does hold customers’ orders for a period of three days from the time of purchase. However, Target holds fresh groceries until the following business day only.
Target holds grocery items for customers under the Pickup and Drive Up services. Other big retailers in the US have similar services too. Some call it curbside pickup. Customers need some time to get their groceries, so Target holds them for a 3-day period.
This holding period is considerably shorter than Walmart. Walmart curbside pickup allows 7 days from the date of purchase. Nonetheless, three days is usually sufficient time to get your groceries.
If you do not pick up your order within three days, the order will be canceled. Worried about your payment? Not to worry, Target will give a full refund through your original payment method. A full refund is not applicable if your order has fresh groceries.
Fresh groceries include frozen food items, milk, cheese, vegetables, fruits, and more. If you need to order these items, ensure that you can collect your items within the given period.
Can I Extend My Pickup Time?
You are allowed to request an extension of your pickup window if there are no fresh groceries in the order. The pickup window can be extended by an additional three days. Usually, there are no issues with an extension. Target does allow it.
So if you’re on holiday or busy, you can always extend your pick-up time. That would be 6 days of pickup time in total, which includes the original three-day period. You need to extend your pick-up time before the initial pickup window ends.
Your order will be automatically canceled after the first three days, so you can’t get an extension after that. Also, note that orders containing fresh grocery items cannot be extended.
The Pickup extension is done in the Order details section of the Target mobile app or website.
